Wet scrubber Technology Overview
Spray Tower is a type of air pollution control device used to remove gaseous pollutants, particulate matter, or heat from industrial exhaust streams. It operates by bringing contaminated gas into direct contact with a liquid (usually water or a chemical solution) through a spraying mechanism, enabling absorption, neutralization, or cooling of pollutants.
Structure of the spray tower
The packing layer in the spray tower is used as a mass transfer device for the gas-liquid two-phase contact member. A packing support plate is installed at the bottom of the packing tower, and the packing is placed on the supporting plate in a random manner. A packing pressure plate is installed above the packing to prevent it from being blown by the updraft. The spray liquid from the spray tower sprays from the top of the tower to the filler through the liquid distributor, and flows down along the surface of the filler.
The gas is sent in from the bottom of the tower, and after being distributed by the gas distribution device, it passes through the gap of the packing layer in a countercurrent flow with the liquid. On the packing surface, the two phases of gas and liquid are in close contact for mass transfer. When the liquid flows downward along the packing layer, a wall flow phenomenon sometimes occurs.
The wall flow effect causes the gas and liquid phases to be unevenly distributed in the packing layer, thereby reducing the mass transfer efficiency. Therefore, the filling layer in the spray tower is divided into two sections, and a redistribution device is arranged in the middle to spray on the lower filling layer after redistribution.
Washing tower Operation Procedure
Startup procedure:
First, start the pumps in the spray tower system. Ensure that the pumps are operating properly and can deliver sufficient liquid for treatment. Then, open the air inlet valves to allow waste gases to enter the tower.
Spraying operation:
Ensure that the nozzles are installed correctly. Adjust the angle and spraying speed to ensure uniform distribution of the liquid and proper contact with the exhaust gases. The parameters of the spraying liquid can be adjusted according to the characteristics of the exhaust gases.
Waste gas treatment process:
Acidic mist waste gas is introduced into the purification tower through ducts. It flows upward through the packing layer, where it comes into contact with the neutralizing absorbent solution (such as sodium hydroxide solution) sprayed from the top of the tower. This leads to a gas-liquid reaction for neutralization.
After that, the waste gas passes through the demisting section to remove moisture and mist. Finally, it is discharged into the atmosphere after meeting regulatory standards. The absorbent solution is returned to the bottom of the tower, where it is pressurized by a pump and reused in the process.
